TYPICAL DISC SPRING APPLICATIONS
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS ![]()
LIVE LOADING OF FLANGE JOINTS Key Belleville's "AFB" series Belleville disc springs live loading maintains the necessary stud tension to keep gasket seal pressure substantially above the required minimum. When used in standard pipe flanges, man and hand holes, heat exchangers, tube sheets, level gauges and sight glasses (to name a few) these live loaded flanges will prevent the common problem that has plagued maintenance for years -- flange leakage due to high temperatures and varying pressure and temperature. The proper use of the Belleville springs will ensure that gasketed joints will not leak. Proper usage in this instance simply signifies that the joint is assembled and torques properly. The "AFB" series disc spring has been developed for 30, 45 and 60,000 lb. bolt stress studs so that we can provide the appropriate Belleville spring for your specific application, in all bolt sizes up to 6 3/4 inch. On normal flange applications Key Belleville recommends using one Belleville disc spring on each end of the stud to ensure that the high tension of the Belleville disc springs will completely maintain the seal, reducing pollution, ensuring safety and providing a cost effective alternative to hot bolting. For special applications, such as gaskets that cold flow, very long stud bolts, please contact Key Bellevilles, Inc. to assist you in selecting or designing the correct spring. |
